Why hadn't I gone to Malmö before?????

Why hadn't I gone to Malmö before?????

This time nothing was planned....I love those spontaneous trips...! My friend Hansie from Belgium came to visit me to Gothenburg (20060908 - 11) and as we did not have any great plans for Sunday I decided to talk to my friend Alejandra who was going down to Malmö for work. She gave us a lift. Great... I had never been to Malmoe before :)

For those readers(not even two, but it sounds nice) who not know, here some quick facts: Malmö is the 3rd biggest city in Sweden. It is located in the southern area called Skåne (it's read Skone). Habitants in Malmö speak swedish with a very particular accent, which I (and many sweds) find hard to understand.

Malmö...what a beautiful (small) city ... nice, friendly, easy to walkthrough, colorful and cosy!

But let me start from zero.. The first touristic activity we did as soon as we got there was to jump in the Rundann (the Malmö version for Göteborg's Paddan)45 mins trip in the cannals. Excelent!... nither too long nor too short.
After that we wanted to plan something nice to do for the next hours. The next spot to see: The turning torso which one could see from every point of the city.We went there walking...It took around 30 mins from the central station to get there. We later proceed to do as the tourists: We took a bunch of pictures to and by the tower and after that we decided to go and see what else was around and behind it as the turning torso is located by the western harbour (named västra hamnen) facing towards the Öresund bridge (the one that connects Sweden with Denmark) and suddenly a very fancy-trendy-poshy residencial area was lying there.

Then it was when the beautiful scandinavian architectural spots started to show up just like that. A tipical and very humble presented (typical scandinavian: not showing off too much)festival of colours, shapes, forms and spaces was surrounding us. I am not even an architect and I could immediately get the feeling about that incredible space. It was like a living art exposition. The swedes did a very representative work of their very advanced techniques and trendes of their own architecture, art, culture and put it all together in an excelent place. Believe me, if you go there, you might end up with our mouths totally opened!

Then we kept taking pictures to the bridge, to the ocean to Denmark (which is visible from the Swedish side, only the ocean separating them). This time, the turning torso was the background of the colourful area. That could have looked just like a unique picture if taken from the sea...

The sun was shinning that day. Around 18 degrees, warm enough so as to sit by the sea and have a cup of coffee. We stayed there for an hour or so...Just watching the horizon, enjoying the nice environment, checking the people, relaxing.

Later, we went to the central station by bus. As we still had some spare time we decided to spend it watching the last spots nearby the central station and walking around we found out another cosy and special spot...Lilla Torg, so beautiful...we took a beer in one of the restaurants with terrass there and later proceed to take our train back to Göteborg.

That is what I remember from that day. Another surprising place in Scandinavia...

Autor: Don Miguel Ruiz
Editor: Urano

1.- No supongas. No des nada por supuesto. Si tienes duda, aclárala. Si sospechas, pregunta. Suponer te hace inventar historias increíbles que sólo envenenan tu alma y que NO TIENEN FUNDAMENTO.

2.- Honra tus palabras. Lo que sale de tu boca es lo que eres tú. Si no honras tus palabras, no te estás honrando a ti mismo; si no te honras a ti mismo, no te amas.

4.- No te tomes NADA personal.
